  • Help Finding Recovery Support Meetings

Holidays can be stressful, and can make it harder to maintain recovery. There are meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other 12-Step programs statewide. These organizations are non-political, non-professional, and are not allied with organizations, institutions, or denominations. A list of 12-Step organizations and meetings is available to help you find a meeting in your community. 12-Step Groups

  • Supporting Local Homeless Coalitions

The research and planning staff of the Board helped the Juneau Coalition for Housing and Homelessness with survey-taking, data collection and analysis about the local homeless population. They used the Vulnerability Index (VI), a tool for identifying and prioritizing
members of the homeless population for housing according to how fragile their health is.
In Juneau, 40 of the 69 people surveyed fit the vulnerability criteria, and were 4-5 times more at risk for dying on the street. Read more about this effort on the Alaska Coalition on Housing and Homelessness website.
