The Division of Public Health's Section of Emergency Programs encompasses the Health Emergency Response Organziations and EMS units as well as the Alaska Trauma System, and leads the way in preparing the State of Alaska and its citizens for any public health emegency or disaster, either natural or man-made.

AKRespond allows you to register as a responder willing to provide services during a disaster or public health emergency.

Public Health Nurses (PHNs) participate in Local Emergency Preparedness Committees (LEPCs) to organize and plan for community emergencies.

As it turns out, what first began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to engage new audiences with preparedness messages has proven to be a very effective platform.
