Overview
An Outpatient Physical Therapy (OPT) or Outpatient Speech Pathology (OSP) provider offers outpatient physical therapy and/or speech-language pathology services to patients. These providers must comply with Medicare regulations to ensure quality care and reimbursement eligibility.
Who qualifies?
- OPT and OSP facilities are not required to be licensed in the state of Alaska.
- OPT and OSP facilities that meet federal requirements (see Resources, below) may be eligible for federal certification.

There is no state licensing for OPT/OSPs in Alaska.
Certification
To participate in Medicare, an OPT/OSP must meet federal requirements and be separately certified and approved.
