Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
Each year, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) helps hundreds of Alaskans with disabilities prepare for, get, and keep good jobs. If you want to work or keep working and have a physical, intellectual, or mental condition that makes this hard, you may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation (VR) services.

This unique program provides real-life work experience to help youth, with significant disabilities, make successful transitions from school to adult life.
Self-Employment - Microenterprise Grant
The Micro Enterprise Fund strives to increase access to Micro Enterprise and self-employment opportunities for persons with disabilities who are Alaska Mental Health Trust Beneficiaries. Grant funds may be used for costs associated with starting a new business, expanding a current business, or acquiring an existing business.

The Provisional Hire program allows Alaska state hiring managers to hire qualified persons with a disability in a permanent or non-permanent position for up to 4 months of trial work without the requirement to hire as a permanent employee.

Social Security Administration Red Book: The Red Book serves as a general reference source about the employment-related provisions of the Social Security Disability Insurance and the Supplemental Security Income Programs for educators, advocates, rehabilitation professionals, and counselors who serve people with disabilities.

Working Disabled Medicaid Buy-In Program: An individual with a disability who is ineligible for APA and Medicaid because of earned income that is either the individual's own income or the individual's spouse's earned income, may be eligible for Medicaid under the Working Disabled Medicaid Buy-In eligibility category.
