Overview

The Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury (TABI) program helps Alaskans with brain injuries they were not born with. Traumatic brain injuries happen from a physical force, like a fall or accident. Acquired brain injuries are those that have internal causes, like a stroke or a tumor.

The program offers support and services for Alaskans with traumatic and acquired brain injuries, including:

  • Getting a diagnosis
  • Creating a care plan
  • Teaching skills for independent living
  • Coordinating services or referrals
  • Connecting with peer support (online or in-person)
  • Mini-grants for supplies/services

Who qualifies?

Alaskans who have experienced a traumatic or acquired brain injury can receive help, along with their families and caregivers.

How to sign up

TABI resource navigation and peer support

To sign up, contact your nearest TABI grantee: 

  • Look in the list of "TABI grantees" below to find your community
  • Click on the community nearest you
  • Using the contact information provided, reach out and let them know you would like to sign up

TABI supplemental services (mini-grants)

These mini-grants provide financial help for supplies or services for Alaskans with a brain injury. You can get up to $2,500 each year. There is a $5,000 limit over five years.
