Public Assistance Offices


Notice: Division of Public Assistance offices are available through the Virtual Contact Center at 800-478-7778 regardless of your location. You can reach offices between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Calls are answered in the order they were received and callers have the option to leave a call back number without losing their place in line. Applications can be submitted telephonically through the Virtual Contact Center (VCC) or in paper. Drop boxes are checked daily.

Email are responded to within 2 business days.  If you have not received a response within 2 business days (48 hours) please contact hssdpadirectoroffice@alaska.gov.

Statewide Processsing
The Division processes work in a statewide manner, therefore documents submitted for eligibility determination is distributed to staff in locations across the state for processing. Due to electronic document record keeping processes, the division is able to process incoming work as it is received in any location staff are working.   The majority of staff in the division are working from home.
 
Office Hours
Business hours are weekdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Interviews are conducted telephonically: Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 3:00pm. 
 
The division is looking to expand working hours from 7:00am to 7:00pm and to include Saturdays in the near future. This change would also allow for an expanded timeframe to schedule required interviews beyond 8:00am to 3:00pm.
