Alaska State Plans

Strengthening the System: Alaska’s Comprehensive Integrated Mental Health Program Plan (2020-2024) - The Alaska Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (Trust), released this plan which assists with guiding resources to the services, workforce and facilities necessary to meet the needs of Trust beneficiaries. Trust beneficiaries include Alaskans who experience mental illness, developmental and intellectual disabilities, chronic alcoholism and drug dependence, traumatic brain injuries, or Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council calls on all Alaskans to recognize our roles in building resilient individuals and resilient communities so we can act together to prevent suicide.

Alaska Healthy and Equitable Communities Strategic Plan 2022-2025
This plan focuses on improving access to the conditions and resources that strongly influence health such as good jobs with fair pay, high quality education, safe housing, safe physical and social environments, and quality health care. The plan draws heavily from other plans such as the Comprehensive Integrated Mental Health Program Plan, and Healthy Alaskans 2030. It also builds on Alaska’s experience with the COVID‐19 pandemic, providing focus and implementing strategies alongside community partners to build healthy and equitable communities for all Alaskans.

This plan outlines actions and improvements to benefit children and families across the state by 2025 and establishes a Ten-Year North Star Vision for Alaska’s early childhood system. Its three goals focus on children from prenatal through age 8, their families, and their communities. This plan is built on A Needs Assessment of Alaska’s Mixed-Delivery System of Early Childhood Care and Education, which was finalized in December 2019. The assessment compiled and analyzed data about where Alaska’s children live, what their lives are like, and what their families, caregivers, and educators need.

This plan is created by the Office of Children’s Services to provide a structure for administering Child Welfare Services (IV-B, subpart 1), Promoting Safe and Stable Families (IV-B, subpart 2), Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, Chafee Foster Care Independence and Education and Training Vouchers. The Office of Children’s Services has administrative responsibility for development and implementation of the Child and Family Services Plan, including all policies and procedures relating to child protection services in Alaska.
