SILC Conference 2022: “Living, Working, and Playing Towards Independence”, on September 21st-23rd, 2022 at the Egan Convention Center

The Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) of Alaska is pleased to present the “Living, Working, and Playing Towards Independence” in-person conference, September 21-23, 2022, at the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together disability advocates and agencies from across the state for learning and networking in a cross-disability manner. Our goal is that participants in this conference learn new tools and discover opportunities that promote independent living, working, and playing in Alaska.

The SILC is committed to promoting a philosophy of consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and individual and systems advocacy. We worked with our partners to increase accessibility and the integration of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of society.
The conference is also supported and brought to you by the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education (GCDSE), the Alaska Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), the Alaska Workforce Investment Board (AWIB), the Northwest ADA Center, and the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (AMHTA) and its beneficiary boards.

Conference fee:

3-Day Admission tickets: $85 for consumers and self-advocates (any person who experiences a disability and not funded to attend by an agency); $115 all others

Lunch will be provided each day, and breakfast will be available on two days. If you have special dietary needs, please request accommodations by September 14th. ASL interpretation and CART services will be available for all plenary sessions and selected breakout sessions. If you wish to request any other reasonable accommodations, please contact Michael Christian, at michael@alaskasilc.org.
