The Alaska Mental Health Board (AMHB) has 20 board members, including 13 public members appointed by the Governor. Not less than half the members are individuals with a mental health disorder or their family members, and other seats include at least two licensed mental health professionals, who represent public and private mental health service providers, and at least one member admitted to practice law in the state. Nonvoting members include the director of the Division of Behavioral Health, and other principal state agencies with respect to education, vocational rehabilitation, criminal justice, juvenile justice, housing, and health and social services.
