Prehospital EMS DatavCollection in Alaska
The collection and use of data in EMS is key to the improvement of patient care, provider safety and operational efficiency. The Alaska Office of EMS has a long history of supporting the collection and reporting of EMS data to the National EMS Information System (NEMSIS). We continue to innovate, fund and support a variety of efforts to help agencies report prehospital data.
Responsibilities for data collection include the following:
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of aggregated statewide prehospital database
- Compiling and reporting performance measures for the Alaska EMS system
- Guidance and technical assistance to regional EMS Councils and local EMS agencies for the development and improvement of agency data collection systems
- Collaborating with local, state, federal and private agencies to appropriately share data and support efforts to improve overall healthcare in Alaska
