Denali KidCare is Medicaid coverage for children from birth through age 18 and Pregnant Women who meet income eligibility standards.
For children, Denali KidCare is typically issued for 12 months at a time. You will need to renew your case every 12 months to ensure there is not a break in coverage. Approximately 45 days before coverage ends, the division will send a renewal form to your household.

Q: What is the federal Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)?
A: Alaska expanded our Medicaid program to cover additional categories of children in 1999. These CHIP categories provide Medicaid coverage to uninsured children up to age 19 in families with incomes too high to qualify them for Medicaid.
