Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health has a commitment to improve the quality of life of Alaskans through the right service to the right person at the right time. The central purpose of the division is to promote an integrated and comprehensive behavioral health system based on sound policy, effective practices, and partnerships.

What we do

We partner to support a strong, continuous behavioral health continuum through technical assistance, regulatory guidance, and optimized resource allocation to meet the dynamic needs of Alaskans.

We believe in supporting Alaska’s statewide behavioral health system (mental health and substance use) which uses the Continuum of Care approach.  This method focuses on preventing and addressing behavioral health risks early.  It ensures people receive the right level of care, starting with the least intensive support, while providing more services and resources for those with serious or ongoing needs.
