Public Health Nursing
Protecting and improving health in more than 250 Alaska communities
Who we are
The Public Health Nursing team is a group of public health professionals dedicating to protecting and improving the health of Alaskans. We do this both through direct care and through projects and programs designed to help Alaskans get the services they need to be healthy.
Our mission is to protect and improve the health of Alaskans through partnering with individuals, communities, and systems while advancing self-reliance, dignity, and cultural integrity.

What we do
We operate 16 Public Health Centers in communities throughout Alaska.
Our teams provide clinical services like well-child checkups, TB testing and treatment, and family planning. We also provide community health services like health education, distributing naloxone kits, and helping communities prepare for emergencies.
Public Health Centers
Clinic services are different in different communities.
For more information or to make an appointment, see Find Nearest Public Health Center below and click the name of the community nearest you.
Itinerant nursing (traveling nurses)
We also have a team of "itinerant nurses" who travel to help give health care to people in rural communities that are far from clinics.
See the Anchorage Itinerant Public Health Nursing page for a list of communities they serve.
