Who we are
Rural & Community Health Systems (RCHS) is committed to supporting Alaska’s healthcare needs at the community level. We focus on improving access to Alaska healthcare in rural and underserved areas while supporting the healthcare system in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from health-related emergencies and disasters.
Our section includes:
- Health Emergency Response Operations
- Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Alaska Trauma System
- Office of Healthcare Access
- Homelessness Health Intervention and Prevention
What we do
We work collaboratively to enhance healthcare access, improve emergency response, and address the needs of vulnerable populations across the state.
Our activities include:
- Designate Alaska’s Trauma Centers and maintain the Alaska Trauma Registry
- Oversight and development of Alaska’s EMS system
- Lead statewide healthcare response efforts before, during, and after disasters
- Improve access to healthcare in rural Alaska
- Address health risks and conditions for individuals experiencing homelessness
