Data & Reporting
Data & Reporting
Patient Care
Alaska EMS-licensed agencies must submit National EMS Information System (NEMSIS)-compliant patient care reports. This standardized data collection ensures consistency in EMS reporting, supports statewide and national quality improvement initiatives, and enhances patient care through data-driven decision-making. Compliance with this requirement help the Alaska EMS system align with national benchmarks, secure funding opportunities, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of emergency medical services across the state. Provider Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST)
A POLST is a medical order that outlines a patient's preferences for life-sustaining treatments, and it is important in Alaska to ensure that individuals' wishes are respected, particularly in remote areas with limited access to healthcare. Alaska POLST is Alaska's statewide participating program of the National POLST. It is led by healthcare partners from across Alaska including Alaska Hospital and Healthcare Association, Alaska Department of Health, and clinicians from hospitals and long-term care facilities who work collaboratively to develop and distribute POLST materials, resources, and information for patients, their families, and healthcare providers. Visit the Alaska POLST website here. Learn more at www.akpolst.org.
