Behavioral Health Roadmap Project for Alaska Youth
Improving care for Alaskan youth
Overview
Adolescent behavioral health needs are higher than ever across the country.
In April 2023, Alaska outlined a plan in its “Overview of Alaska’s Behavioral Health System of Care for Children,” to improve services for youth with behavioral health needs. This plan focuses on regional solutions and will guide a long-term statewide effort to expand provider services and strengthen the care system.
The roadmap aims to:
- Create a shared vision for behavioral health services in Alaska
- Match funding opportunities with service needs
- Identify and address barriers like regulations, funding, or technology gaps
- Respect regional and cultural differences while encouraging local solutions
