Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
A spectrum of disorders caused by prenatal alcohol exposure
Overview
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are lifelong effects caused by alcohol use during pregnancy. Alcohol harms the fetus by killing cells and altering brain development. People with FASD may not look different but often have brain-related challenges. Without diagnosis, their behavior may be misunderstood, causing stress and difficulties.
