Overview

It is legal for adults ages 21 years or older to use and possess marijuana for personal use in Alaska.

In 2018 Senate Bill 104 established the Marijuana Education and Treatment Fund, which uses 25% of marijuana excise tax revenue to fund prevention, education, and treatment programs.

Program information

Our program aims to reduce the use of marijuana use by promoting protective factors and providing resources for afterschool programs, schools, and justice-involved youth.  We emphasize personal resilience and connections with positive role models.

Funding supports afterschool programs for grades 5-8 to build protective factors. The program also helps schools deliver trauma-focused prevention for at-risk students and partners with the Alaska Division of Juvenile Justice to assist justice-involved youth.
