Payment Error Rate Management (PERM)
Measuring the accuracy of Medicaid program payments
Who we are
Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) is a federal program that checks Medicaid payments to make sure they are correct. This program was created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
What we do
Each year, we review Medicaid payments to see if any were made by mistake.
If you are a provider in the Alaska Medical Assistance program, you may be contacted by a PERM contractor. This means one of your claims was chosen for review.
See the PERM FAQ, under Related Resources, for more information. You can also find more details on the CMS website.
