Who we are
State Office of Rural Health (SORH) connects federal, state, and local partners to build capacity and resources to improve rural health in Alaska.
What we do
- Connects rural communities to state and federal resources, provides technical assistance to rural providers, hospitals, and communities, is engaged in healthcare provider recruitment and retention, and coordinates rural health policy analysis to develop long-term solutions to rural health problems.
- The Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (Flex) provides technical assistance for critical access hospital conversion, quality improvement, financial sustainability and innovation, community health strategies, and EMS coordination
- The Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) provides reimbursements to small rural hospitals for purchases of hardware, software, or training that result in operational and quality improvements.
