Alaska Commission on Aging
Ensuring the dignity and independence of all older Alaskans

Who we are
The Alaska Commission on Aging (ACoA) is an advisory board that includes members appointed by the Governor, State of Alaska agency representatives, and others with an interest in the concerns and needs of older Alaskans.
The ACoA mission is to help make sure older Alaskans can live with dignity and independence and to help seniors lead useful and meaningful lives. We do this through activities that include planning, advocacy, education, and by helping make sure the agencies that serve Alaska's seniors are working together.
What we do
Year-round, the commission promotes the development of senior-focused community programs and services, offering input to agencies and organizations that support Alaska's seniors. We also highlight important senior issues, such as employment, fall prevention, and elder abuse reporting. (See Related Education and Related Resources below.)
State Plan for Senior Services:
Every four years, the Alaska Commission on Aging produces a comprehensive statewide plan called the State Plan for Senior Services. This plan serves as a roadmap for how the state should address issues that affect Alaska's seniors.
Regular meetings:
Commission meetings - The commission meets four times per year, both in-person and online (on Zoom). See Alaska Online Public Notices for ACoA meetings scheduled within the next 10 days.
Statewide public teleconferences - The commission holds teleconferences four times per year to get input from the public and discuss issues affecting Alaska's seniors.
