Nursing Unit
Helping people access home, community, and institutional care services
Who we are
The SDS Nursing Unit helps manage and oversee Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) for Alaskans who receive Medicaid. We use our nursing knowledge to provide guidance and support to agencies across the state. Our work helps improve the quality of life for older adults, vulnerable adults, and people with disabilities.
What we do
The Nursing Unit oversees and manages the following:
- Assessments and support plan reviews for the Children with Complex Medical Conditions (CCMC) waiver program.
- Facility assessments for various programs, including ALI and APDD waivers, Community First Choice (CFC), and Personal Care Services (PCS). These assessments are for individuals in nursing homes, hospitals, psychiatric facilities, or correctional facilities.
- Authorizations for long-term care or nursing homes and Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR).
