Who we are

The Review Unit is responsible for the regulatory review and authorization of services through the following programs:

  • Waiver Programs:
    • Adults Living Independently (ALI)
    • Adults with Physical and Developmental Disabilities (APDD)
  • Personal Care Services (PCS) Program
  • Community First Choice (CFC) Program

What we do

The Review Unit follows State and Federal rules to decide whether to approve or deny services.

If services are denied, applicants will get a notice explaining why they are not eligible and how to appeal the decision.

If services are approved, applicants will get a notice listing the approved services, including the scope, duration, and frequency. For PCS and CFC programs, applicants will receive a service level authorization explaining the type and amount of assistance approved. For waiver programs, applicants will get an approval notice and then a Support Plan created by their Care Coordinator and approved by the Review Unit.

Applicants can appeal any decisions included in their approval notice. Certified agencies across Alaska provide approved services.
