Overview

Alaska’s Family Caregiver Support Program helps caregivers of all ages who care for someone 60 or older and grandparents 55 or older raising grandchildren.

A caregiver can be anyone who offers support, from a neighbor providing daily check-ins to a family member assisting with daily tasks. Caregiving can be formal or informal and often involves helping with challenges related to aging, disability, illness, or mental impairments.

If you are a caregiver seeking assistance or resources, support is available.

Who qualifies?

The following specific populations of caregivers are eligible to receive services:

  • Adult family members or other informal caregivers age 18 and older providing care to individuals 60 years of age and older
  • Adult family members or other informal caregivers age 18 and older providing care to individuals of any age with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders 
  • Older relatives (not parents) age 55 and older providing care to children under the age of 18
  • Older relatives, including parents, age 55 and older providing care to adults ages 18-59 with disabilities
