Partnership Access Line – Pediatric Alaska (PAL - PAK)
Providing pediatric healthcare providers with resources for supporting youth with mental and behavioral health needs
Overview
PAL-PAK (Partnership Access Line – Pediatric Alaska) is a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant funded program administered by the Department of Health. The goal of the grant is to provide Alaska-based pediatric healthcare providers—working in primary care, behavioral health, and integrated health settings—with immediate access to psychiatric consultations and resources for supporting children and adolescents with mental and behavioral health needs. Healthcare providers can receive guidance on diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, and referrals.

Who qualifies?
Prescribing pediatric primary care providers can phone PAL for a real-time consultation from a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Providers can get help with diagnostic clarification, medication adjustments, or treatment planning. No patient release is necessary under HIPAA (section 45 CFR 164.506).
Any healthcare provider can phone Help Me Grow Alaska (HMG-AK) who needs navigation services for children and adolescents with behavioral and mental health needs. HMG-AK family support specialists can connect families to local services and support, helping ensure children get the right care at the right time. Providers can request navigation support through PAL or by contacting HMG-AK directly.
