Overview

Personal Care Services (PCS) helps around 2,000 seniors and people with disabilities in Alaska.
PCS offers help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and eating, as well as other activities like shopping, laundry, and light housework. These services are available across Alaska through private agencies.

Who qualifies?

Both Agency-Based PCS and Consumer-Directed PCS programs are available in most Alaska communities.

Agency-Based PCS Program (ABPCA)

In this program, an agency oversees, manages, and supervises a person’s care. ABPCA has been available for more than 10 years.

Consumer-Directed PCS Program (CDPCA)

In this program, individuals manage their own care. They can choose, hire, supervise, and even fire their personal care assistant. The agency provides administrative support for both the individual and the assistant.
