The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council (SSPC) advises the governor and legislature on issues relating to suicide. In collaboration with communities, faith-based organizations, and public-private entities, the Council works to improve the health and wellness of Alaskans by reducing suicide and its effect on individuals and communities.

Public Comment Opportunity- Statewide Suicide Prevention Plan Update 2023-2028
The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council, pursuant to A.S. 44.29.350(5), has developed an updated five-year state suicide prevention plan for 2023-2028. This plan was developed in close consultation with stakeholders statewide to ensure that it is relevant and accessible to all Alaskans. The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council is requesting public comment on the draft plan: Messages of Hope: Alaska’s Statewide Suicide Prevention Plan 2023-2028.
Members of the public are encouraged to review and provide comment on the draft plan.
The public comment period begins January 17, 2023 and ends at 5:00 p.m. January 31, 2023. Please send all comments in writing via email, fax or postal service to:
