The Statewide Suicide Prevention Council has released its updated five-year State Suicide Prevention Plan, Recasting the Net: Promoting Wellness to Prevention Suicide 2018-2022.

Alaska's Strategic Prevention Framework, Partnership for Success.

Congratulations to the new Strategic Prevention Framework Partnerships for Success grantees! These grantees will work to reduce and prevent the non-medical use of prescription opioids and heroin use within their communities. Opioid misuse and abuse has become a crisis in Alaska, and these community led coalitions are gearing up to tackle this problem head-on! More to come soon...

 

Alaska Town Hall Meetings on Underage Drinking

The Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration will sponsor community-led gatherings to discuss the consequences of underage drinking and mobilize local partners around evidence-based strategies. Join the online conversation on underage drinking prevention by using social media and #CommunitiesTalk.

The Alaska Committee to  Prevent Underage Drinking (ACPUD) is currently seeking input to revise the Strategies to Prevent Underage Drinking (will be released summer of 2016). If interested, click on the survey link and post your comments and feedback. Alaska's youth are drinking less overall so let's keep up the momentum. To develop the best plan, we need your feedback!

Alaska’s Strategies to Prevent Underage Drinking"Alaska’s Strategies to Prevent Underage Drinking  offers an overview of what existing literature describes as being effective and specific actions the committee believes are possible to implement in Alaska. Increasing the use of these recommendations and specific actions will help to build a stronger foundation in the statewide effort to prevent underage drinking.

Talk they hear you logoNew media campaign to help parents talk to younger children about the dangers of underage drinking. "Talk.
