Child Care Program Office
Working with families and providers to give Alaska's kids a great start

Who we are
The Child Care Program Office (CCPO) manages the Federal Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) to provide affordable, safe, and high-quality child care for Alaska families. The CCPO helps families and child care providers through licensing, financial help, and improving care programs.
What we do
The CCPO leads efforts to make high-quality child care affordable and available across the state in the following key areas:
-
Licensing and Regulation: The CCPO licenses and monitors child care facilities to ensure they meet state standards for safety, health, and educational quality through inspections and compliance checks
-
Subsidy and Financial Assistance: The CCPO provides financial aid to help families afford child care and supports providers serving families receiving assistance
-
Quality and Capacity Building: The CCPO distributes grants and manages programs to improve child care quality, expand capacity, and ensure accessibility, especially for infants, school-aged children, and children with special needs
The Alaska Department of Health, with the Governor’s Child Care Task Force, is working to make child care more affordable and easier to find in Alaska. To see recent reports, recommendations and learn more, visit the Child Care Task Force page.
