Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)
Gathering data to guide programs and improve the health of Alaska adults
Who we are
The Alaska Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a yearly telephone survey that asks randomly selected Alaskan adults about their health, their health habits, and how they use health care and preventive services. BRFSS is part of a national program coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
What we do
We collect data through thousands of telephone surveys every year and share results with the public. Organizations, researchers, and community members use this data to improve programs and services, secure funding, inform policies, conduct research, and improve the health of Alaskans.
