Tribal Communication and Consultation (Non-Medicaid)
Facilitate communication between DOH, Alaska Tribes, and Tribal Organizations
Who we are
Each DOH division has a Tribal liaison to help with communication between the department and Alaska Tribes and Tribal Organizations. You can find the current list of contacts in the Liaison Contact directory.
What we do
Alaska Tribes have maintained organized societies, unique cultures, and self-governance for thousands of years. Partnering with Alaska Tribes is vital because it improves services, enhances government efficiency, and supports better health outcomes for all Alaskans. The Department of Health (DOH) Tribal Consultation Policy for Non-Medicaid related consultation acknowledges the independence of Alaska Tribes and establishes a framework for regular communication between the DOH and Tribes to better serve all Alaskans. It outlines plans for annual consultation meetings and ongoing collaboration to achieve shared goals, fostering a strong government-to-government relationship.
