Child Care Assistance Program
Assistance with child care expenses for eligible families
Overview
The primary mission of the Child Care Program Office (CCPO) is to provide assistance with child care expenses for eligible families, making sure they have access to high-quality child care services across the state.

Who qualifies?
Child Care Assistance in Alaska is known as “Parents Achieving Self Sufficiency” (PASS) and is divided into four eligibility categories: PASS I, PASS II, PASS III, and PASS IV:
- PASS I is a supportive service for families receiving Cash Assistance benefits under the Alaska Temporary Assistance Program. Families must ask for this support through their assigned work services case manager.
- PASS II is for families who are transitioning from the Alaska Temporary Assistance Program and the Alaska Temporary Assistance Program case has closed with earned income. Families must complete and submit the CC08 Child Care Assistance Application and submit it to their local Child Care Assistance Office and meet all income and non-income eligibility requirements.
- PASS III is for families who are not eligible for, or who have never received, PASS I or PASS II. Families must complete and submit the CC08 Child Care Assistance Application and submit it to their local Child Care Assistance Office while meeting all income and non-income eligibility requirements.
- PASS IV is for children who are in Office of Child Protective Services (OCS) protective services. Families caring for children in OCS protective services must contact their OCS case manager for PASS IV child care assistance.
