Overview

The Division of Public Assistance (DPA) offers programs to help you and your family stay healthy and safe. These programs include financial aid, medical coverage, nutrition support, child care assistance, and more.

Each program has its own rules for who can qualify. Visit each program’s page to learn more, see if you’re eligible, and find contact information for any questions.

How to sign up

The Alaska Connect client portal makes it easier to work with DPA. Sign up through myAlaska, or use your existing myAlaska account, to access your personal space:

You can apply for public assistance, renew benefits, report changes, and upload documents all in one place. If you prefer not to use the portal, you can still access our services through our website, offices, or virtual contact center.

Medicaid Application

Income-based Medicaid applicants are encouraged to apply at healthcare.gov. This is the fastest way to see if you’re covered.

If you are applying for Medicaid due to age or disability or would like to apply for other services, please choose one of the options below:

  • Submit a completed paper Application for Services by mail, fax, email, in person via the lobby drop box, direct secure messaging (a DSM account is required), or through a fee agent.
  • Call the Virtual Call Center at 800-478-7778 (TDD/Alaska Relay: 7-1-1) to apply over the phone.

Review or Recertification Form

  • The Eligibility Review Form (GEN-72) can be used for most programs. The division sends a prefilled review application form with the standard recertification or review notice.
  • Please note the reporting requirements for our programs, which can be reported directly to your local office, with a GEN-72 or other form.

Language Interpretation Services

DPA provides free language interpretation services. Callers can contact the Virtual Contact Center in their preferred language by using the numbers listed for commonly spoken languages on our  Foreign Language Support page.
