Overview
The Division of Public Assistance (DPA) offers programs to help you and your family stay healthy and safe. These programs include financial aid, medical coverage, nutrition support, child care assistance, and more.

How to sign up
The Alaska Connect client portal makes it easier to:
- Apply for or renew benefits
- Upload documents securely
- Update your contact information
- Report changes
Sign up or use your existing myAlaska account through the Alaska Connect to access your personal space:

Income-based Medicaid applicants are encouraged to apply at healthcare.gov. This is the fastest way to see if you’re covered.
Apply at HealthCare.govIf you are applying for Medicaid due to age or disability or would like to apply for other services, please choose one of the options below:
- Submit a completed paper Application for Services by mail, fax, email, in person via the lobby drop box, direct secure messaging (a DSM account is required), or through a fee agent.

- Application One benefit is issued per “season” which runs from October 1 through August 31. Outside those times, visit a local office for an application or ask the Heating Assistance Office at 800-470-3058 or liheap@alaska.gov.

- WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program:
 Call the WIC clinic closest to you. You can find clinics near your location by entering your zip code on WIC Signup page or by selecting a clinic from our WIC Clinic contact information page.
 Download and complete the paper forms and call the WIC clinic closest to you.
Paper forms include:
- Family Information
 Complete one form for the whole family.
- Pregnant Women Application
 Complete one form for every pregnant woman in the family.
- Postpartum/Breastfeeding Application Form
 Complete for a woman who has a baby (less than six months old) taking formula or a woman who is breastfeeding a baby (that is less than one year old).
- Infant Application Form
 Complete one for every infant in the family, age birth to one-year-old.
- Child Application Form
 Complete one for every child in the family who is one- to five-years-old.

- The Eligibility Review Form (GEN-72) can be used for most programs. The division sends a prefilled paper copy of your review application form with the standard recertification or review notice. Instead of using the paper form, you can choose to submit the information we need to process your renewal online:

Language Interpretation Services
DPA provides free language interpretation services. Callers can contact the Virtual Contact Center in their preferred language by using the numbers listed for commonly spoken languages on our Foreign Language Support page.
