Overview
A Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is a Residential Psychiatric Treatment Center (RPTC) that has been federally certified.
A PRTF provides 24-hour, non-hospital mental health treatment to children and adolescents with severe emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric disorders. PRTFs are designed for individuals who require structured, intensive care but do not need hospitalization.
Who qualifies?
PRTFs are not required to be separately licensed in the state of Alaska but may be eligible for licensing as an RPTC.
How to sign up
To participate in Medicare, a PRTF must meet federal requirements and be separately certified and approved. Federal requirements for PRTFs are outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
