Project HOPE: Get Naloxone Opioid Overdose Rescue Kit
Get free Naloxone, which allows a person who has overdosed to breathe again
Overview
Project HOPE provides naloxone to Alaskans through a medical standing order under AS 17.20.085. Approved Overdose Response Programs (ORPs) can distribute naloxone to those at risk of opioid overdose or individuals in a position to assist them.
Naloxone quickly reverses the effects of an opioid overdose by restoring normal breathing, typically within 30 to 40 seconds. It is safe and has no effect if mistakenly or self-administered, offering critical time to seek emergency care.
Who qualifies?
Project HOPE supplies Overdose Response Kits upon request. Kits include:
- Two doses of Narcan® (Naloxone), a drug that temporarily blocks or reverses the effects of opioids
- Sanitary gloves
- Brochure on how to give Narcan® to someone
- Carrying case
