Overview

The Alaska Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is a survey conducted every other year in schools that asks Alaska high school students about their health habits, and behaviors that protect them from and put them at risk for various health outcomes. Data is made available to the public in several ways. Alaska YRBS provides data through the online YRBS Data Dashboard, published reports, and specialized data requests.

How to request data

Specialized analyses or datasets can be provided by sending in a data request. If the information in the Alaska YRBS Data Dashboard does not meet your needs, please contact us at doh.yrbs.info@alaska.gov.

When submitting a data request, please provide the following information:

  • Purpose of the data request
  • When you need the data
  • Year(s) of data being requested
  • Sample of interest (statewide, alternative, district)
  • Health topics of interest

Data requests are subject to approval. Staff response times depend on their availability and how complex a request is. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also provide statewide public use datasets for  most states and some territories.
