Evidence-Based Practices: Medication Addiction Treatment

Medication Addiction Treatment (MAT) Guide

Department of Health developed a Medication Addiction Treatment Guide to assist Alaska providers in implementing opioid treatment services. Medication Addiction Treatment is an evidence-based approach to treating opioid use disorders with one of three medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration: buprenorphine, methadone and naltrexone. This guide focuses on understanding how to use buprenorphine and naltrexone in office-based settings in conjunction with behavioral health treatment and supports.
