Women, Infants and Children Program
WIC is a public health program providing nutrition and breastfeeding education, counseling, support, nutritious foods and referrals to needed services.
Formula Updates
2/13 - Formula Updates
At the end of February, the flexibility to buy different infant formulas will end. After March 1 you will only be able to buy the infant formula listed on your food benefits. If you have questions, please contact your local WIC office.
Why is this happening?
In February of 2021 Abbot issued a recall for Similac powder formulas manufactured in Sturgis, Michigan. Around the state supplies of formula were limited. Now formula is back in stock at most stores. Similac powder formulas should be available as usual for you to buy at your local store.
We encourage all WIC participants to shop before their "Last Date to Use" just in case your store is waiting on a shipment of WIC foods.

On February 18, 2022, Abbott issued a voluntary recall for certain powder formulas, including Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare.
DO NOT feed your baby formula if it is included in this recall.
Abbott recommends that parents dump the formula but keep the cans. Further information for reimbursement or replacement is anticipated from Abbott. (
