Specimen type
- Stool in Enteric Transport Media (ETM).
- Pure isolate submitted on Cary Blair Swab or Bacterial Transport Media
Specimen collection instructions
- Collect stool in clean dry container or on plastic wrap stretched across toilet.
- Sample must be placed into ETM within one hour of sample collection.
- Carefully open ETM, use scoop mounted in lid to place approximately a walnut size amount of stool into transport. Add enough stool to fill exactly to red fill line. Do not overfill.
Note: Stool specimen should not be contaminated with water, urine, barium, antibiotics or mineral oil.
