Test Method
Rapid Toxic Screen (performed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA)
Availability
- All clients must consult with the Section of Epidemiology for approval before testing.
- If approved by Epidemiology, Contact the Chemistry Emergency Lab Team before submitting samples.
Specimen type
Urine
Specimen collection instructions
- 2-10 mL urine in a urine tube or leak proof screw-capped plastic specimen transport cup/tube.
- Please also submit an empty, labeled specimen container from the same lot to test for background contamination.
Storage and transport
- Refrigerate and store at 4°C or below for Anchorage area delivery.
- Outside of Anchorage area, freeze prior to shipment and ship with cold packs or dry ice to minimize spillage.
- Package, label, and ship as UN3373 Biological Substance, Category B.
With approval, ship to: Anchorage Public Health Laboratory, ATNN: Chemistry
Results
A quantitative concentration will be reported for each detected element.
