SNAP-Ed Information for State Staff

Program Goals

MyPlate LogoAlaska SNAP-Ed participants will increase behaviors consistent with the  Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 and MyPlate resulting in:

  1. The percentage of youth who consume the recommended daily servings of fruit and vegetables will increase by 2%. (BRFSS)
  2. The percentage of youth consuming one or more Sugar Sweetened Beverages per day will decrease by 2%. (YRBS/DHHS results)
  3. The percentage of adults who meet CDC recommended levels of physical activity will increase by 2%.  (BRFSS)
  4. The percentage of adolescents who meet CDC recommended levels of physical activity will increase by 2%.  (YRBS)

Program Approaches

The three approaches of the SNAP-Ed program are:

1. Individual or group-based nutrition education, health promotion, and intervention strategies (required for all states.)

2. Comprehensive, multi-level interventions at multiple complementary organizational and institutional levels.

3. Community and public health approaches.
